Hazem Al-Zubi
Hazem Al-Zubi was born in 1957 in Irbid and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1982. He is a ceramist who appreciates color with brightly glazed pieces inspired by geometric divisions and stylized human, animal and calligraphic forms. His works emanate a primordial air combined with a modern awareness both in distribution and arrangement. Al-Zubi tries to integrate new experiences into his works. In his sculptures, Al-Zoubi mixes Nabataean and Arabic letters and Sufi shapes engraved on rocks in a balanced contemporary style.
